NBC Sports Group And FACEIT Are Coming Together To Launch A Rocket League Tournament

by Douglas DeLong on Jun 21, 2017 at 12:40 PM

This summer, NBC Sports Group, FACEIT, and Psyonix are partnering to launch the first-ever international 2v2 Rocket League tournament.

Starting July 22, the regional online qualifiers will be held on the FACEIT platform, and the top competitors will make their way into in-studio regional finals competitions on August 5-6 and 12-13. The tournament will end with a two-day Grand Finals on August 26-27, where 16 teams will battle for the $100,000 prize pool.

Across NBCUniversal and Comcast, there will be more than 40 hours of event coverage across live-streaming, video-on-demand, and linear platforms. The Senior Vice President of NBC Sports Ventures, Rob Simmelkjaer has announced that they're adding Television Deportes to engage the growing Spanish-language audience. Syfy will be handling the international component and will be broadcasting the Grand Finals in the UK, Germany, Australia, and multiple countries across Latin America.
