Tickets To Pokémon GO Fest Sold Out In Under 30 Minutes

by Douglas DeLong on Jun 19, 2017 at 04:58 PM

The sustained popularity of Pokémon GO continues to impress, and this morning we caught a glimpse of just how rabid the fan base continues to be.

To celebrate the first year of Pokémon GO, Niantic decided to hold the first ever Pokémon GO Fest in Grant Park, Chicago on July 22. It's a place to catch rare Pokémon, meet other trainers on your team, drop by special Pokéstops, and more. If you were able to grab a ticket that is – within 30 minutes of announcing that tickets were available, they were completely sold out.

If you wanted to take part in the festivities but were unable to get a ticket, the developers have stated that trainers around the world will still be able to participate. Details are still light at this point and more will be announced in the coming weeks, but it appears that there may be special challenges for the player base to try and complete collectively for in-game rewards.

In other news, Pokémon GO's gym battles are receiving a huge update. You can read all about it here.

Our Take:
It's unfortunate that so many fans were unable to get tickets in time, but at the same time it's great to hear that the game is still so wildly popular. These summer festivities and the new update are getting me excited to start walking around parks with my face buried in my phone again.
