EA Shows Off Action-Packed Need For Speed: Payback Scene

by Brian Shea on Jun 10, 2017 at 02:50 PM

In Need for Speed: Payback, EA is shifting the focus to be more action-oriented. Players control three characters in the story: Tyler, Jess, and Matt. With these protagonists, you take part in car battles and action moments, as well as racing and heists. Developer Ghost Games showed a sequence of the title during today's EA Play press conference.

In the gameplay footage, the characters take down several enforcer cars on the way to a truck that's carrying a supercar they want to steal. As each enforcer car is taken down, the action switches to a slow-motion crash cam, similar to what was previously seen in the Burnout series. The characters pull up alongside the truck, Jess jumps and escapes with the car.

Payback also features visual and performance customization that also includes Relics, a set of scrapped cars that you rescue and revive into a racing machine. Need for Speed: Payback comes out November 10 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
