Report: Spider-Man Homecoming's Tom Holland To Star In Uncharted Prequel Movie

by Kimberley Wallace on May 22, 2017 at 12:53 PM

The Uncharted movie has been in development for years now, with information trickling out here and there. Last we heard, Neil Druckmann confirmed that Naughty Dog hadn't seen the script and didn't know anything about the film, so he couldn't speak to its tone or anything. News today suggests that the movie is one step closer to becoming a reality with the announcement of its leading man. Deadline reports that Tom Holland, who's starring as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Homecoming out this July, will play the iconic role of Nathan Drake.

Deadline reveals that the movie has been "redrafted as a prequel" to the video game series, so a younger actor like Holland makes sense for the role. The film is said to take inspiration from a sequence in Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, where young Drake meets mentor Sully for the first time. The story centers on Drake in his early days as he grows into a treasure hunter. Shawn Levy, who was behind the camera for the Night at the Museum movies and for a few episodes of Stranger Things, is directing the film.

With this news, it looks like the film has once again been reenvisioned, so here's hoping it's on the right track this time.
