Niantic Exec Teases Pokémon Go Legendaries For Summer

by Suriel Vazquez on May 21, 2017 at 06:50 PM

Although developer Niantic isn't doing as well by Pokémon Go as we'd like them to, they have been maintaining a steady drip of events going. Recently, we've had Water, Egg, and Adventure-themed events for the game. And it looks like this Summer is shaping up to host an even bigger event.

At this year's Webby Awards (where Pokémon Go won "Best Mobile Game" and four other awards), Niantic global product marketing lead Archit Bhargava chose his five-word acceptance speech (a custom for the Webbys) carefully: "This summer will be legendary."

Considering legendaries like Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres are still missing in action, the wording is likely not coincidental. Pokémon Go players may finally have something to look forward to in the coming months.

Our Take
I still keep up with
Pokémon Go, but more out of a sense of obligation than anything else (I bought a Plus, after all). Who knows what methods players will have to employ to catch legendaries, but hopefully, the update that arrives with them makes playing Pokémon Go worthwhile again.
