Weekend Warrior – Preying For The Weekend

April video game showers bring... well, more video games. This weekend, the GI editors are diving into Arkane's Prey, and while only one of us (Javy) is reviewing it, you can be sure lots of us will have thoughts on it next week, whether it's editorials or podcasts, or videos, or whatever! We're also backlogged to heck, so we'll also be plugging away at releases we still haven't finished up, because have I mentioned there are a lot of games out this year already? Let us know your weekend plans in the comments.

Jeff Cork (@gijeff) – I’ve played Prey for several hours now, and I’m planning to spend more time on Talos I over the next couple of days. Hopefully, I start getting some decent upgrades soon, because I haven’t felt this fragile in a game for a while. I’m digging the atmosphere, but the combat isn’t particularly interesting – at least where I am in the game. Here’s hoping it opens up sooner than later. On the other end of the spectrum, I’ll probably continue to kill millions of demons in Diablo III because it’s the best.

Ben Hanson (@yozetty) – Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.

Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle-field of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.

But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate—we can not consecrate—we can not hallow—this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. This weekend I hope to play more of Nier: Automata, I’ve finished it once and am eager to check out the other endings. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us—that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion—that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain—that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom—and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth. Kyle Hilliard (@KyleMHilliard) – I will probably make some time to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. I know it’s blasphemy, but I don’t get particularly excited about new Marvel universe films. I do like Guardians of the Galaxy, though. I might also throw some meat on a metal grate with some fire underneath it. Video game-wise, I am still playing Horizon, but my wife took over the PlayStation 4 to play Persona so now we have to share. It’s been a trying time in our household.

Jeff Marchiafava (@GIJeffM) – This weekend I plan to check out Prey. The early scuttlebutt around the office is that the opening hours are quite difficult, so I’m interested to see if I can survive, or if my coworkers just suck at the game. I’ll also be testing out Javy’s tips, so if those fail I can complain about him on Monday too!

Brian Shea (@BrianPShea I’ll be playing Overwatch, Prey, and Persona 5. I’m also seeing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, so maybe that’ll put me in the mood to play the first episode of the Telltale series. I also just bought The Witness on Xbox One. I haven’t played it, but it’s on sale on Xbox Live, so I grabbed it and might start that if I have the time.

Suriel Vazquez (@SurielVazquez) – I'm going to try to dedicate as much time as I can this weekend to Prey, but Dota 2 just dropped its new compendium for International season, so I'm guessing that at some point, it's going to pull me in for a few games again to get digital hats and stuff. I might also check out the Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 demo, if my Hitbox will work long enough for me test out Baiken.
