THQ Nordic Officially Announces Darksiders III

by Matthew Kato on May 02, 2017 at 11:33 AM

Update: After a retailer leak earlier today, publisher THQ Nordic has confirmed it is working with a team at Gunfire Games – a studio largely comprised of the original creators of Darksiders – to create a third Zelda-meets-the-Apocalypse style game.

THQ Nordic says fans of the series will "take on the role of Fury in her quest to hunt down and dispose of the Seven Deadly Sins. The Charred Council calls upon Fury to battle from the heights of heaven down through the depths of hell in a quest to restore humanity and prove that she is the most powerful of the Horsemen. As a mage, Fury relies on her whip and magic to restore the balance between good and evil. The expansive, Darksiders III game world is presented as an open-ended, living, free-form planet Earth that is dilapidated by war and decay, and overrun by nature."

Darksiders III is currently slated for release on PS4 and Xbox One sometime in 2018. You can check out the official reveal trailer here

Original Story:

A retail listing for Darksiders 3 from THQ Nordic indicates that a new title in an "open-ended, living, free-form world" is on its way.

Amazon has a listing for the game, along with some info and screens. Players apparently play as Fury, a whip-wielding mage who must defeat the Seven Deadly Sins.

We've reached out to THQ Nordic for a comment on the matter, and will update the story if we hear back anything substantial.

Our Take
In the past, THQ Nordic (then Nordic Games) has explicitly expressed interest in continuing the series, so this is expected.
