StarCraft II Gameplay Designer Moves On To New Blizzard Project

by Suriel Vazquez on Apr 08, 2017 at 04:28 PM

David Kim, StarCraft II's lead gameplay designer, has decided to move on to a new project within Blizzard, Kim announced this week on the official Battle.net forums.

Originally a top StarCraft player who worked at Relic Entertainment and later hopped over to Blizzard after seeing the announcement of StarCraft II, Kim has used his experience as a high-level player to suss out balance changes to the series, but is now seeking newer pastures. "I’ve reached a point in my career where I’ve decided to branch out to a different project, to explore, learn, and grow as a game designer," Kim said in his goodbye post. "I will always be grateful for this amazing experience that most game designers around the world just don’t get to experience at such a deep level."

Kim did not reveal any details about his new project at the company.

Our Take
Considering Dustin Browder (former StarCraft II and Heroes of the Storm designer) has also moved on to working on "a new project" which I'm guessing is not more Overwatch content, it's starting to look like this new project at Blizzard is pretty major. I'm excited to see what this ends up being.
