World Video Game Hall Of Fame 2017 Finalists Include Pokémon, Halo, Wii Sports, And More

The Strong Museum of Play's World Video Game Hall of Fame has announced its 2017 finalists. The pool of 12 features several classics and fan favorites ranging from JRPGs to two of the most influential fighters of all time. To date, only 12 games have been inducted across the Hall of Fame's two inaugural classes.

The finalists for this year are listed below:

  • Donkey Kong Country
  • Final Fantasy VII
  • Halo: Combat Evolved
  • Microsoft Windows Solitaire
  • Mortal Kombat
  • Myst
  • Pokémon Red and Green
  • Portal
  • Resident Evil
  • Street Fighter II
  • Tomb Raider
  • Wii Sports

So far, the World Video Game Hall of Fame has inducted 12 games: Doom, Grand Theft Auto III, The Legend of Zelda, The Oregon Trail, Pac-Man, Pong, The Sims, Sonic the Hedgehog, Space Invaders, Super Mario Bros., Tetris, and World of Warcraft.
