Assassin's Creed TV Series Is In The Works

by Elise Favis on Mar 22, 2017 at 11:20 AM

In a recent AMA discussion on Reddit, Assassin's Creed's head of content Ymar Azaizia confirmed that Ubisoft is working on a television series based off the popular Assassin's Creed franchise. Further details about the series were not given.

"We will take our time to get sure we deliver something we can be proud of," Azaizia wrote on Reddit.

Although not yet formally announced, this at least confirms that the series in the works. Last year, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot was in discussions with Netflix about a potential partnership. It's likely that this is tied to this project, though it remains to be seen exactly what studio is behind the series and where it will be available to watch.

This isn't the first time Assassin's Creed has branched off into the cinematic realm. Late last year, an Assassin's Creed movie starring Michael Fassbender hit theaters.

Our Take
It will likely be a while yet before we see this series release, and we're still awaiting a formal announcement from Ubisoft, but this confirmation is promising. I would bet that this is the same project Guillemot was bringing up with Netflix, but it remains to be seen as to whether or not it will be exclusive to the streaming service.
