Resident Evil Revelations Coming To PlayStation 4 And Xbox One In 2017
2012 saw the release of not one, but two titles in the Resident Evil series; while November's RE 6 polarized audiences with its focus on explosive action and intrusive quick-time events (leading to the series being retooled in Resident Evil 7), January's handheld spin-off, Resident Evil Revelations, endeared itself to players with its return to an updated version of the series' signature survival horror gameplay and wacky B-movie narrative, which played out as "Resident Evil meets Dante's Inferno." Revelations proved to be so popular that it was eventually remastered for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC in 2013, but that was just the beginning.
After the recent success of Capcom's ports of Resident Evil 4, 5, and 6 to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the publisher is moving forward with bringing Revelations to current-gen systems. The official Resident Evil twitter page announced the re-remaster today, and promises more details to come "soon."

Resident Evil Revelations is coming out this fall for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and will see both a digital and physical release.

Our Take
Revelations is one of the best Resident Evil titles this side of RE 4, but do we really need to buy it again? Many fans probably already have the game on 3DS and a last-gen console, but will this new version, which is likely to be a port of a remaster, offer enough improvements to justify a third purchase? The last-gen version ran at a steady 30 frames-per-second, so if the PS4 and Xbox One version brings that number up to 60 fps, then it just might be worth plunking down the cash to play the new version, rather than just going back to the last-gen port.
