Where Is Our Ghost Recon Wildlands Review?

by Matt Bertz on Mar 06, 2017 at 05:01 AM

Ghost Recon Wildlands hits retail and digital stores tomorrow, but some websites are already posting their reviews today. So where is the Game Informer review?

The Bolivian setting in this open world shooter is huge, with vast mountain ranges, valleys, salt flats, and jungles to explore. We have yet to see everything the game has to offer. In addition, cooperative play is a fundamental part of the experience, so we feel it's critical to play on live servers with the rest of the players to get an accurate assessment of the game's performance.

What we've played so far is fun. Though the you only have a scant amount of tactical options, you can still move like ghosts, silencing many of the opposing forces before they even know you're there. It's also equally viable to drop right from the sky on an enemy encampment and rip through the cartel operatives like Rambo. The A.I. companions aren't Tier 1 level operatives, but they effective enough to support solo play, especially once you max the sync shot ability. The open world is gorgeous but largely stagnant, and in the long run I could see the act of fetching intelligence/weapons parts/skill points/resources from clearly designated places on the map losing its luster. We'll see how I feel after several more hours of play.

We'll post our review as soon as we finish the game, but in the meantime come back to gaminformer.com in the next few days to see livestreams, read strategy tips, and learn more about our thoughts on the game.
