Grand Theft Auto Online Continues To Expand With New Races, Cars, And More

by Zak Wojnar on Mar 02, 2017 at 06:13 AM

Red Dead Redemption 2 may be on the horizon, but that doesn't mean Rockstar Games is abandoning its current, reigning champion in the open-world genre. Grand Theft Auto V's multiplayer suite, GTA Online, is the gift that just keeps on giving. Rockstar has been consistent in their support of the massively popular online mode, and they've just announced a slew of upcoming enhancements to the game.

GTA Online's next title update will add a new Stunt Race series, designed to take advantage of the game's supercharged Special Vehicles, allowing for GTA's best racers to show off their speed and skill in the most insane (and least street legal) vehicles the game has to offer.

Meanwhile, new Adversary Modes will be added throughout the spring, including Resurrection, which aims to put a GTA-twist on classic Dodgeball mechanics, and Top Down, which hearkens back to the overhead view of the original GTA titles. Along for this nostalgic ride are new vehicles, such as the Turismo Classic and the Infernus classic, which borrow their aesthetic from their original GTA III incarnations.

Rockstar is promising more surprises for the spring season, but it's also already looking ahead to summer's big update, Gunrunning, which will include new missions, combat-focused vehicles, and military-grade weaponry. Despite the massive hype for Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA Online is still going strong, and showing no signs of slowing down in the foreseeable future.
