Matt Groening Revives Futurama In Upcoming Mobile Game, Worlds Of Tomorrow

by Jordan Leendertsen on Feb 22, 2017 at 10:20 AM

Fox Interactive and mobile developer TinyCo. announced today via press release a new mobile game set in the Futurama franchise.

Titled Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow, the game will feature original content from series creators Matt Groening and David X. Cohen. TinyCo. is also working alongside Rough Draft Studios, who originally animated the show, in order to get the look and feel of the game right. "We've got completely new stories from the original writers, cast, and animators," says Cohen in the press release. "This is the real Futurama deal."

An exact release date for Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow has not been set, but interested players can sign up for updates at the official site. Android users can also pre-register for the game on Google Play.

Our Take
While Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow still doesn't have a release date, and little is known about the gameplay, fans should be comforted knowing that the two main showrunners are behind the project. Little measures like getting the animation style of a show correct can also go a long way toward making fans happy.
