PS4 Pro Support Outlined For Sniper Elite 4

by Zak Wojnar on Feb 03, 2017 at 07:05 AM

World War II shooters may not be as prevalent as they were in the heyday of the classic Medal of Honor and Call of Duty titles, but the Sniper Elite games are proudly carrying the torch into the PS4 and Xbox One era. The latest title in the series, Sniper Elite 4, is the first to feature support for Sony's upgraded PS4 Pro hardware, and will do so at launch.

While the specific details have yet to be specifically detailed, developer Rebellion has confirmed that the PS4 Pro version of Sniper Elite 4 features the following improvements over the base PS4 edition:

  • Enhanced framerate
  • Increased draw distances
  • Increased level of detail in geometry
  • Improved lighting and shadows
  • Improved reflections
  • Faster load times

In addition, the PC version is confirmed to support DirectX 12.

Sniper Elite 4 launches on February 14th, 2017 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Our Take
We don't know the extent of Sniper Elite's PS4 Pro enhancements. Some games make better use of the stronger console than others. We're hoping that the enhanced framerate and increased draw distances make the PS4 Pro version a noticeable improvement over the base PS4 version. However, we also hope the regular PS4 version should still look and perform just fine, even without the added power of the Pro.
