Script For Upcoming Uncharted Movie Is Complete

by Elise Favis on Jan 08, 2017 at 07:03 AM

The Uncharted film has been in development for years. While it was in limbo for a long period of time, it seems the project is moving forward as writer Joe Carnahan confirms on Instagram that the script for the movie has reached completion.

From director David O. Russell quitting the project back in 2011, to reports of an indefinite delay, the film has been on shaky ground. Now, with director Shawn Levy behind the reins and a finished script, it's looking like this project is still alive and ongoing.

Carnahan shared the news about the script on Instagram, with the following caption: "Done and Dusted. Now the REAL work begins. If there's a more monstrously cool action script in Hollywood right now, I wanna read it, 'cuz [sic] this thing is a BEAST."

While it was previously reported that actor Mark Wahlberg was chosen for the lead role, he has since left the project. The movie remains in pre-production, but this news certainly is promising that it's edging closer to reaching a film set.

Our Take
While there's still a lot of work to be done, a finished script is positive sign that the project is ongoing, but I wouldn't hold your breath just yet. Projects like these can come and go, and uncertainties still exist as the project heads towards casting and production. Who would you want to see cast as Nathan Drake? I think Nathan Fillion would be a perfect fit.
