Keyboard Hack Runs Doom 2 On The Tiniest Display Imaginable

by Jeff Marchiafava on Dec 19, 2016 at 07:25 AM

YouTube user Radioactive Channel has set a new record for absurd platforms to play Doom on, by reprogramming an OLED keyboard to display the game on a single key.

The keyboard in question is the Optimus Maximus, an out-of-production keyboard that features 48x48 pixel screens for each key. While the main idea behind the keyboard is so that users can redefine key layouts however they choose or display different languages, one intrepid hacker proves you can also use it to play id Software's seminal shooter.

Radioactive Channel has also posted a video of the game running at an enlarged resolution across all nine digits on the number pad, though the breaks between keys make it a little hard to see.
