What To Watch This Weekend: Overwatch, World of Tanks, And Pokkén

by Suriel Vazquez on Dec 17, 2016 at 04:53 AM

Hang in there and be nice to each other on this, the last weekend before people's schedules get thrown out the window. If you've just finished up school for the semester, don't rub in the faces of those who still have a few days yet. If your workplace is giving you a healthy amount of time off, be grateful for those who'll be working during crucial holiday hours. It's the least you can do. Wait, what's this feature about? Oh, right! There's a bunch of stuff to watch this weekend.

The Northeast Champions will be one of the last hurrahs for the tournament year for several games. Gears of War 4, Street Fighter V, Pokkén, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 and 3 - this tournament features 20 competitive games and has something for everyone from new initiates to longtime veterans. (Streams / Schedule)

Las Vegas will be home to the Call of Duty World League MLG Open, the first open LAN tournament for the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Anyone who registered their team for the event will be fighting for a $100,000 prize pool. (Stream / Schedule)

The Counter-Strike ELEAGUE is also going on this weekend, with a major qualifier taking place between some of the most prominent teams in the world. (Stream / Schedule)

To round out our trio of shooters, we have the Intel Extreme Masters Overwatch tournament in Gyeonggi, which offers a first-place prize of $50,000 (Stream / Schedule)

You can also settle in for a whole weekend of Hearthstone action by watching the TakeTV SeatStroy Cup VI, which features a $10,000 prize pool. (Stream / Schedule)

If you'd rather watch Tanks duke it out on the battlefield, The WGL is hosting its major Champions Rumble event in Moscow this weekend. (Stream / Schedule)

And if you're up for some (very) late night Dota-watching, Evil Geniuses' and Newbee's Dota 2 squads will face off in one of the first high-level matches of Dota 2's huge 7.00 patch at the China Top 2016 event. (Stream / Match will begin around 1:30am tomorrow, CST)

That's it for this weekend! Let us know if we missed a big gaming competition or event from this weekend in the comments.
