You Can Now Catch Ditto In Pokémon Go

by Brian Shea on Nov 22, 2016 at 12:30 PM

Ever since Pokémon Go launched in July, a few select monsters from the original 151, including Ditto, the three legendary birds, Mewtwo, and Mew, have been conspicuously absent from the game. With the latest update, it was reported that Ditto's trademark move, Transform, was added into the moveset. We can now confirm that Ditto is catchable in Pokémon Go.

Encouraged by the double XP/stardust event that is going on this week, I started catching all Pokémon that popped up near me. A low-CP Pidgey spawned at my house, and when I caught him, "Oh?" flashed on the screen and the creature turned into Ditto. Ditto was then registered to my Pokédex.

There does not appear to be any definitive way to tell a transformed Ditto apart from your standard run-of-the-mill creatures, so if you're looking to catch the pink blob, you should probably stop ignoring all the Pidgeys and Rattatas that pop up everywhere. In addition to adding Ditto, Niantic today kicked off its Thanksgiving event, which rewards double experience and stardust to players for the next week, and rolled out its tracker to players in several new territories.
