System Shock Remake Delayed To 2018

by Suriel Vazquez on Nov 17, 2016 at 01:47 PM

Earlier this year, Nightdive studios raised over $1.3 million on Kickstarter for a full-fledged remake of the original System Shock for PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. While the remake is still on the way, fans and backers will have to wait quite a a bit longer to get their hands on the fruits of Nightdive's labor, as the game's projected launch date has moved from December 2017 to the second quarter of 2018.

The news comes via this month's update on the project from Nightdive. Along with the news of the delay, the studio says that it is "not sure if it will be a simultaneous launch [on all platforms], but we’ll do our best."

Finally, the team released a new piece of concept art for the game (found below) to tide fans over for the month. While you wait for the full game to launch, you can watch us play the demo, or play the demo for yourself.

Our Take
While it's unfortunate to have to wait an additional year for this remake, it was already far enough removed from release that I don't mind it too much.
