Stardock Announces Star Control: Origins, Due Out Next Year
After acquiring the rights to the Star Control series back in 2013, Stardock has finally revealed a new entry in the space-faring franchise, called Star Control: Origins.
The game is set during the early stages of Earth's exploration of the galaxy. The player takes on the role of a captain of "Earth's first interstellar starship" in the year 2086, investigating a distress call from a moon of Triton as part of the first mission of the newly-created Star Control agency.
Players will explore procedurally generated worlds, engage with alien species, command their ship in combat, and find out more about the galaxy around them.
It's currently available for pre-order, with two editions to choose from: A $35 "Founders Edition" offers early access, mod tools, and a badge on the game's forums, while a $99 "Lifetime" edition will include access to all future downloadable content and a soundtrack.
