Check Out The Twisted Metallica Game That Never Was

by Michael Leri on Oct 17, 2016 at 11:47 AM

There was a video game based on Metallica? Apparently so! Damage Control Inc.: Metallica was the "Twisted Metal but with Metallica" game you never asked for and, frankly, never got. This canceled PS2, Xbox, and PC game from Black Rock, Climax Brighton, and Climax Studios was recently unveiled, thanks to the unfinished code obtained by PtoPOnline.

The game, through its open-world and driving mechanics, wears its inspirations on its sleeve. Smuggler's Run 2, Grand Theft Auto, and Vigilante 8 were among some the stated influences as well as films like Blade Runner, Mad Max, Fist of the North Star, and Waterworld. While incomplete, some of its core car mechanics were on display, like some customization, driving, and shooting.

Publisher Vivendi Universal scrapped the game for no specific reason (outside of possible licensing issues), and multiple attempts to revive the project after were unsuccessful. As of now, this game only exists in its partial state, which you can see below.
