Weekend Warrior – Constructive Criticism

by Ian Boudreau on Oct 07, 2016 at 02:00 PM

It's been an educational couple weeks here at the Game Informer offices. Mostly, we've been learning that a "pile driver" is not just an irritating move Zangief does. It's also a piece of construction equipment that's used primarily for the purpose of...driving piles, I guess. The point is, there's one across the street from the GI building and the noise is making us feel as though the Swarm might be tunneling beneath us. That's okay though, because thanks to Gears of War 4, we're ready for battle. Here's how the GI crew plans on spending their last weekend on the surface. Let us know what you'll be up to in the comments.

Wade Wojcik (@WadeWojcik) – Iron Banner is back, baby. With the few remaining days of the event, I’ve got rep to grind and a new pvp set to build. This time around, the game type is Supremacy, a 6v6 capture-the-enemy-crests scoring match, and it’s fun as hell. If you’re new to either Destiny or Iron Banner, or returning from a hiatus like myself, check it out!

Brian Shea (@BrianPShea) This weekend, I’ll be playing Mafia III, Pokémon Go, Overwatch, Pokémon SoulSilver, and Batman: Arkham Origins. I’d also like to continue playing Forza Horizon 3, NBA 2K17, and Madden NFL 17, but I don’t want to get too ambitious.

Matthew Kato (@MattKato) – My schedule is pretty chock full of stuff: NBA 2K17, PES 2017, Madden 17, NHL 17…Oh, and I also have Darkest Dungeon, and last night I remembered to download Resident Evil from PSPlus. I have fond memories of the original on the original PlayStation, but believe it or not, haven’t played much of any of the subsequent remastered treatments.

Suriel Vazquez (@surielvazquez) – I have a lot of games to dig into. I’m really excited to sink my teeth into Mafia III, obviously. But I’m also itching to check out The Silver Case, the HD remaster of one of Suda Goichi’s first games. There’s also lots of Dota 2 and Street Fighter to watch this weekend, which should be fun. And, as always, “figuring out where I’m going to park today because my building only offers on-street parking” is a wonderful game I don’t hate at all.

Kyle Hilliard (@KyleMHilliard) – This weekend we’re celebrating my daughter’s birthday, as she has been careful to remind me about for the last six months. It’s equal part exciting, and stressful, and it will basically be my whole weekend. If I do have some free time, however, I will probably dive into Mafia III. I like what I am seeing from the game so far.

Jeff Marchiafava (@GIJeffM) – This weekend I plan to set aside all the games I have on my unfinished pile of shame and dive into Mafia III. I liked what I saw of the game during our Test Chamber, and am eager to see if it holds up for the long run. I’d also like to do some more exploring/dying in Darkest Dungeon this weekend, and maybe smash up some fancy-pants English manors in Dangerous Golf.

Kevin Slackie (@KSlackie) – This weekend I plan to play through MegaMan X2 and Ace Attorney 6 so I can finally play the Time Traveler case. I’m also gonna check out the Mall of America. Here’s hoping I don’t shop til I drop or end up in some Dead Rising situation.

Michael Leri (@OrangeFlavored) – Unlike last week, I'm not really sure what I'll waste my time on this weekend. Probably some Mortal Kombat X, given the huge update that just came out. Maybe some South Park: The Stick of Truth on PS4? Or Deus Ex: Mankind Divided? Probably a movie or two. I don't really care since I finally finished Life is Strange and literally anything is going to be better than that.

Ian Boudreau (@iboudreau) – I had a weird urge to finally sit down and play Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance this week, and that wound up being an excellent decision. I’m hoping to finish the story up this weekend (please do not ask me about my S ranks). But the Dying Light community bounty caught my eye yesterday, so I’m planning on spending some quality time back in Harran. Pass me the flame-throwing cricket bat. No, not that one, the one with the nails in it.
