Sign Up To Get An Early Look At Street Basketball Game On PS4

by Jeff Cork on Sep 26, 2016 at 04:09 AM

It's been a good year for basketball games, but don't think the only way you can experience the sport is through the filter of the NBA. Joycity is working on a new version of its Freestyle series, bringing the 3 on 3 street-basketball game to consoles for the first time. If you're curious to see how it's shaping up, the game will be entering a closed beta on PlayStation 4, and they're accepting applications to be a part of it.

According to a post on the PlayStation Blog, the developers seem to have done their homework. Members of the dev team visited street courts across the United States to make sure they got a sense of the current culture and captured the essence of the sport. They've worked to ensure that the various characters fill their various specialties while also looking and feeling unique from one another.

If you think it sounds interesting, check out the game's official site and sign up to be a part of the beta.

Our Take
Street basketball is definitely underrepresented in video games, and its cool to see developers working on new games. I used to love NBA Street, and while this has a more exaggerated visual style than EA's old series, if the gameplay is solid, I'm in.
