Firewatch Movie In The Works

by Jeff Cork on Sep 26, 2016 at 09:49 AM

Indie developer Campo Santo is working with production company Good Universe to develop projects in games and film. The first of those projects is a film adaptation of the developer's debut release, Firewatch.

In Firewatch, two lonely characters get to know one another via radio while working as fire lookouts in the Wyoming wilderness. Their relationship deepens while they investigate a variety of break-ins and other mysterious events during the summer. The game was first released on PlayStation 4 and PC in February, but it was released on Xbox One with some additional features last week.

Good Universe is perhaps best known for producing the pair of Neighbors comedies, created by Seth Rogan, Evan Goldberg, and James Weaver.

Our Take
I enjoyed Firewatch overall, even if some of the game's storylines stretched plausibility. Hopefully the passive medium of film will give the creators the space the creators need to iron out some of those rough patches.
