Persona 5 Releases In Japan Tomorrow, Here's What You Should Know

by Suriel Vazquez on Sep 14, 2016 at 09:05 AM

One of the biggest games of 2017 in the United States is coming out tomorrow, September 15, in Japan.

Why does that matter to a U.S. audience? For a couple of reasons. If you're looking to import the game, now would be a good time to start looking into it. Also, you should be aware the Japanese version of the game won't include an English voice track or subtitles, which means you'll have to brush up on your Japanese if you plan to import. The game is region-free, however, so you at least won't have to buy a Japanese PlayStation 4 to play it.

On the flip side, if you want to go into Persona 5 spoiler-free, now would be a good time to start filtering your various social media feeds and avoid going to websites where people might discuss the game in detail. The U.S. release date is February 14 of next year, so you'll only have to stick it out five months.

If you haven't played a Persona game and want to know whether you'll want to import this one immediately or avoid spoilers, you can read Kimberly Wallace's interview with Persona 5 director Katsura Hashino, as well as Dan Tack's E3 preview of the game.
