The Pokémon Go Plus Arrives Next Week

by Kyle Hilliard on Sep 08, 2016 at 05:20 AM

The device was originally meant to launch in July, but got pushed back to September. We now exactly when it will be available.

Pokémon Go Plus will be available next week, Friday, September 16. If you're unfamiliar with exactly what the device does, Niantic outlined its functions on its blog post announcing the release.

As you pass by a PokéStop, Pokémon GO Plus will vibrate and light up and alert you to the location. You’ll even be able to collect new items just by clicking the Pokémon GO Plus. If there’s nearby Pokémon hiding in your area you’ll be alerted with lights and vibrations; catch the Pokémon with a button on Pokémon GO Plus and then continue on your way (later, you can check your Journal to see which Pokémon you’ve just caught).

Yesterday, during Apple's keynote announcing the iPhone 7, it was revealed that Pokémon Go would be receiving substantial Apple Watch compatibility. You can learn more about that here.

Our Take
The Go Plus is still an attractive piece of hardware for preventing you from staring at your phone while playing Pokémon Go, but after yesterday's Apple Watch details, I think I am more interested in going that route.
