At today's Apple Keynote press conference, the company announced Super Mario Run, the first Mario platforming game on the platform.

Developed exclusively for iOS as part of Nintendo's agreement with DeNA, Super Mario Run sees Mario running from left to right automatically, but features the series' signature 2D level design, as well an aesthetic similar to the New Super Mario Bros. series. The game will also feature Toad Rally, a multiplayer mode where players can compete against their friends for the high score, which is based on coins collected and impressing Toads by doing "daring moves."  Players can then use their performance to build their own Mushroom Kingdom.

Super Mario Run will launch this December for an unannounced set price, though players can download the game and access certain parts of it for free.
