Ben Affleck Teases Deathstroke For Upcoming DC Movie

by Brian Shea on Aug 29, 2016 at 06:39 AM

While we don't know too much about next year's Justice League film (outside of what was in the San Diego Comic-Con trailer) or Ben Affleck's upcoming Batman solo film, it's looking like the DC mercenary Deathstroke is making an appearance in at least one of them. The news comes via an off-screen video tweeted by actor Ben Affleck this morning that shows the gun-for-hire Slade Wilson in full costume.

The video, which was presented without any context from the Batman actor/director, shows Deathstroke walking forward and staring into the camera in dramatic fashion. You can see it for yourself below.

Many have assumed this tease is for the Justice League movie since that is currently being filmed, but it might actually make sense for this Deathstroke tease to be for the Batman solo film that Affleck is both directing and starring in. Not only would Deathstroke warrant less attention than the brute force of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and The Flash, but since Affleck is directing the Batman solo film, he likely has much more leeway for what he can "leak" from the set without upsetting either DC or Justice League director Zack Snyder – though it's entirely possible that either of those entities authorized the tweet to build hype. In addition, TheWrap is reporting that it is able to confirm that Deathstroke is a main villain in Affleck's upcoming Batman film, adding to the fire that this tease could be for that film.

Deathstroke is perhaps most well-known outside of comic book readers as a villain in the TV show Arrow, but his appearance in Batman: Arkham Origins might be what sticks out in the minds of most gamers. The Justice League film is set to hit theaters November 17, 2017, while the Batman solo film doesn't have a date yet.
