2K Lines Up More Than 100 Licensed 1960s Songs For Mafia III
Mafia III is set to bring us to the deep south in about six weeks. Publisher 2K has been ramping up the pre-release promotion, with videos introducing the cast and setting the stage.
Another major piece of the puzzle falls into place today. You can’t have a 60s crime drama without some of that decade’s most memorable music.
The complete track listing (available here) includes some timeless classics, including The Rolling Stones’ “Paint it Black” and “Sympathy for the Devil”, Aretha Franklin’s “Respect”, Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Bad Moon Rising” and “Fortunate Son”, Dusty Springfield’s “Son of a Preacher Man”, and Elvis Presley’s “Little Less Conversation”. If you want to get in the mood today, there’s the Mafia III Hit List on Pandora.
The game’s original soundtrack, composed by Jesse Harlin (Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, The Secret of Monkey Island) and Jim Bonney (BioShock Infinite, Mortal Kombat) will be available via iTunes. You’ll also be able to get it (and 11 of the game’s licensed tracks) on vinyl as part of the collector’s edition.

I'm a sucker for well-curated licensed soundtracks going all the way back to GTA Vice City. I think I'll carve out some time to see what I can put together via Spotify. If you're looking to add some of the decade's best music to your library, this list is a darn good place to start.
