Minecraft Oculus Rift Support Arrives Today In Free Update

Mojang has announced that as of today, Minecraft will now be playable on an Oculus Rift. We first heard the sandbox game was coming to the PC-powered virtual reality headset since Oculus Connect 2 in September 2015, and the game has previously made its way to VR in April with Gear VR.

Rift support comes at no extra cost. For those that already purchased Minecraft on Windows 10, a free update will enable VR features. Currently, Minecraft on Windows 10 is still in open beta, and is receiving regular updates. Check out our previous coverage here.

At E3, it was revealed that Minecraft would support cross-play between platforms. As for future releases, Minecraft is expected to make its way to the augmented reality headset, Microsoft HoloLens, once it launches commercially.
