[Update] Rainbow Six Siege Will Be Free To Play On Xbox Live, Steam This Weekend

by AJ Moser on Jul 28, 2016 at 07:48 AM

Update: Ubisoft is also opening the doors on PC this weekend. You can play for free on Steam now through 4 p.m. Eastern / 1 p.m. Pacific on Sunday, July 31.

During that time, the game will be discounted 50 percent ($25). As of publication, the $30 season pass does not carry the discount. However, the gold version of the game, which comes with the season pass has been reduced to $40 from $80 for the duration of the sale.

Original Story (July 27, 2016 @ 1:56 p.m. Central):

Xbox One owners who have yet to play the latest tactical shooter from the Tom Clancy series are in luck, as Rainbow Six Siege will be free-to-play this weekend only. The trail period ties in to the final match of the Pro League's second season.

Starting at 9 a.m. PST on Thursday July 28, any Xbox Live Gold subscriber can download the full game via the Xbox Store and take part in the multiplayer with friends or other players online. If you enjoy your time and want to purchase the game, it will be available at a discounted price as well – and any gamerscore, achievements, and gear obtained during the free weekend will carry over for players who pick the game up on sale.

The free weekend ends on Sunday, July 31, but on Saturday the Pro League Season 2 Xbox Final will be streamed. The full reveal of the upcoming DLC Operation: Skull Rain will take place this weekend, available August 2 for Season Pass holders.
