Speed-Running Charity Summer Games Done Quick Raises Nearly $1.3 Million
The week-long speed-running charity Summer Games Done Quick has come to a close, raising nearly $1.3 million for Doctors without Borders.
The annual charity, which took place from July 3 to July 9, broke their record this year by raising a whopping $1,298,239.44 (the total may fluctuate until the final amount is tallied) from more than 30,000 donors. This is slightly higher than last year's total of $1.2 million.
Really, though, you're all winners. Thanks again for helping us raise over $1.295 million for @MSF_USA ! #SGDQ2016

Summer Games Done Quick featured 177 speed-runs, ending with Super Mario 64. We had a couple speed-runners stop by the Game Informer office before the event, where they beat Fallout 4 in an hour and wrapped up Doom in 90 minutes.
Earlier this year, Awesome Games Done Quick raised over $1.2 million for the Cancer Prevention Society. The next Awesome Games Done Quick will take place in January 2017.
Our Take
Games Done Quick events are a fantastic way to raise money for charity, by showcasing impressive skills from the community while also being incredibly entertaining to watch. I look forward to seeing if they can raise even more next year.
