One Year After Launch, Rocket League Still Has Over 1 Million Daily Players

by Elise Favis on Jul 09, 2016 at 05:13 AM

A year has passed since the immensely successful, vehicular combat sports game Rocket League launched. Now, developer Psyonix has revealed some impressive statistics about the game's popularity.

Notably, Rocket League has had a total of 18 million players, and 1.1 million of those users are playing daily. 6.2 million copies of the game have been sold worldwide, along with 5.5 million DLC packs sold. PlayStation 4 remains the most popular platform to play on, with Xbox One and PC not too far behind. This was most likely helped by the fact that Rocket League was launched as a free PlayStation Plus game in July 2015. Competitive matches are the top choice, with private matches played the least.

In Psyonix's blog post regarding the infographic, it mentions the creators' gratitude and that they will "keep supporting the game with new Arenas, new Garage items, new Game Modes, and new DLC; to experiment with more Rocket Labs and to increase our presence in the world of competitive gaming."

Rocket League took the gaming world by storm when it released last year. To find out why we loved it, read our review here. You can also check out our Test Chamber about the most recent DLC, Neo Tokyo, here
