Linked Steam Accounts Are Now Required To Upload Fallout 4 Console Mods

by Elise Favis on Jun 19, 2016 at 12:00 PM

In an effort to combat piracy, such as cracking down on unauthorized uploads, Bethesda is now requiring mod creators to link their Steam accounts when transferring Fallout 4 PC mods to consoles.

This extra measure came into effect with Fallout 4's recent title update. Now, when you access Bethesda.net to upload mods to consoles, your Steam account must first be verified. Mod support on consoles currently only extends to Xbox One, however PlayStation 4 support is soon to come.

At this year's E3, Bethesda announced that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim remaster will also receive mod support on consoles. You can find out more about how mods work on Fallout 4 via consoles here. The release of console mod support for Fallout 4 was a huge success for Bethesda, generating 50 times more traffic than the title's release on PC.
