Bungie To Reveal Next Destiny Adventure June 9 On Stream

by Jeff Cork on Jun 02, 2016 at 11:41 AM

Bungie released the stats for its weekly Iron Banner event today, and also revealed that Destiny players will get their first official look at what's next for the game in a livestream next week. Could it be the rumored Rise of Iron expansion?

The stream is scheduled for 10 a.m. Pacific on June 9 on Destiny's official Twitch.TV channel. As for what you'll see, Bungie isn't saying much. "You’re invited to learn all about the next threat that you’ll confront as Guardians," is about it, though they promised that it's coming later this year.

In May, an image popped up online, featuring what appears to be Lord Saladin, the facilitator of the Iron Banner event, wielding a fiery weapon, surrounded by wolves. It had the name "Rise of Iron" attached to it, leading to rumors that it was the next expansion for the game and that it was somehow connected to the current game's Iron Banner PvP events.

On the subject of the Iron Banner, Bungie also released some stats from last week's abbreviated event. Even with one fewer day than usual, players spent 6,556,390 hours playing, collecting 7,022,300 legendary drops, earning 17,048,600 legendary marks, and killing each other 458,847,899 times.

Our Take
With E3 fast approaching, it's probably best to get the Destiny word out before it's lost in the noise of everything else. Destiny fans can look forward to news about their favorite shooter a few days before E3 even starts. Whether that news is about the rumored Rise of Iron, or something else, the reveal of new content on the way will be welcome news to players who have already conquered much of what Destiny currently has on offer.
