Call Of Duty: Black Ops Now Playable On Xbox One Via Backward Compatibility

by Mike Futter on May 17, 2016 at 05:14 AM

Update: Microsoft has confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops is now compatible for play on Xbox One.

Original Story:

An advertisement appearing on the Xbox 360 dashboard hints that a long-promised backward compatible title might finally be coming to Xbox One. Way back when Microsoft announced the backward compatibility feature a few titles were tipped for inclusion, but only two have come to fruition so far.

Call of Duty: Black Ops may finally be playable on Xbox One at some point (as shown in the photo we took above), but it doesn't work yet. The remaining commitments from Microsoft include the trio of BioShock games and Skate 3.

Microsoft has commissioned its own poll of fan-requested titles for backwards compatibility – which Black Ops was on, but many of these haven't come to pass yet.

We’ll update should Microsoft make any backward compatibility announcements in the near future.

Our Take
These dashboard advertisements tend to be accurate. Though we don't know how early the trigger was pulled, it seems pretty likely this should be coming to pass soon.
