Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare Movement System Will Be Similar To Black Ops III

by Mike Futter on May 13, 2016 at 08:29 AM

With Call of Duty helmed by three different studios and featuring different settings each year, there are inevitably going to be gameplay changes. 2015’s Black Ops III introduced a chain system that combines boosting, sliding, wall-running, and dashing. That will carry over to this year’s entry.

In response to a question on Twitter, Infinity Ward had this to say about what players can expect from Infinite Warfare:

Of course, this doesn’t prohibit Infinity Ward from making modifications or improvements. But players can at least know that if they’ve been honing their skills in Black Ops III, some of the techniques will carry over to this year’s game.

Our Take
Keeping things consistent means Infinity Ward doesn’t need to reinvent the wheel. For serious players (and the pro community), it also means not having to learn a year’s worth of muscle memory. Of note, Activision reported during its most recent earnings call that Call of Duty experienced record monthly active users. While specific sales numbers and titles weren’t called out, with Black Ops III the biggest selling game of 2015, chances are its performance and MAUs are connected.
