Papo & Yo Developer’s Dinosaur VR Game Arrives Next Week

by Mike Futter on May 11, 2016 at 03:00 AM

Way back at GDC 2014, the same week that Oculus first announced its second developer kit, we had our first chance to check out a VR game about swimming with dinosaurs. Minority Media’s Time Machine VR was one of the experiences that helped get us excited about virtual reality. It now has a release date.

Time Machine VR will be out on May 19 for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, priced at $29.99. It features approximately 10 hours of single-player with a story written by Jill Murray (Assassin’s Creed III, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag).

The game puts players in a submersible time machine that starts off as a research mission in the past. However, a catastrophe in the present makes the mission in prehistory more urgent.

You can play it now in early access in the Oculus Store and on Steam for $19.99 ($10 less than release pricing) if you’re eager to dive in now. You can read our past coverage for more information.

Our Take
Back in 2014, Time Machine VR was already one of the most comfortable experiences we had time with. I’m looking forward to seeing how far things have come in two years.
