New Aliens And Weapons Spawn In XCOM 2’s Alien Hunters DLC

by Ben Reeves on May 05, 2016 at 02:00 AM

XCOM 2’s Alien Hunters DLC looks to give you more reasons to jump back into the fight for humanity later this month.

Alien Hunters will include a new narrative-driven mission that has players facing off against new aliens called Rulers. These Rulers are more formidable versions of pre-existing XCOM 2 enemies, such as the Viper King pictured above, and they all have their own unique behavior and tactics. These Rulers will show up at random during your campaign, and if you don’t take them down fast enough, they could escape.

Thankfully, this DLC also introduces four new weapons players will be able to research and build. The Bolt Caster is a high damage single-shot weapon. The Hunter’s Axe is a powerful new blade weapon. The ShadowKeeper is a pistol that is guaranteed to hit and can place its user in concealment when the enemy is killed. And finally, the Frost Bomb is a grenade that temporarily freezes enemies.

In addition to new weapons and enemies, Alien Hunters includes three new suits of armor. For example, the Icarus Suit features powerful boosters that allow its wearer to fly around the map.
These new armor sets can be created from the corpse of a Ruler, so you’ll really want to hunt them all down.

The Alien Hunters DLC releases on May 12 for $9.99, but if you already purchased the Reinforcement Pack you’ll also get Alien Hunters as an added bonus. This new DLC, along with these XCOM 2 mods from the Long War Studios, should help keep this great PC strategy game feeling fresh.
