Experience Oculus Rift At Select Best Buy Locations Starting May 7

by Jeff Cork on May 02, 2016 at 08:21 AM

Game Informer editor in chief Andy McNamara recently reviewed the Oculus Rift, and he wrapped up his thoughts with a simple call to action: Get out there and try the Rift. That's been easier said than done, thanks to preorder delays stemming from component shortages. If you haven't yet recieved a unit or want to see what all the fuss is about, retailer Best Buy is making it easier to check out the tech in-store, starting May 7.

Oculus and Best Buy said that the units will be available to demo at 48 locations nationwide. You can find the location closest to you by typing your ZIP code on the newly launched Oculus Live site here. From there, you can make an appointment to try out the Rift via games and VR demos including The Climb. Stores will also be selling what they're calling extremely limited supplies of the Rift units, while they fill preorders.

Our Take
The Rift is an expensive piece of tech, even if you already have a PC capable of supporting it. Getting an in-store demo is definitely a smart move, in case you find yourself with a previously undiagnosed case of motion sickness.
