According to a report from Japanese website, gamebusiness.jp, Platinum Games president and CEO Tatsuya Minami has stepped down from his position.

According to a translation from Gematsu, Kenichi Sato has been named as Minami's successor. You can find Sato's twitter account, here. Platinum Games is releasing Star Fox Zero on Friday and also has Scalebound, Nier: Automata, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan in the works. It also developed Bayonetta 2, The Wonderful 101, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, and a number of other action titles.

We've reached out to Platinum Games for confirmation and will update this story if and when we receive a response.

Our Take
Platinum Games has had a steady stream of work, and has multiple games in the works, so it doesn't – at least publicly – appear to be struggling in any tangible way. Minami may have just decided it was time to retire. Hopefully we will know more specific details soon.
