[Update] Star Wars: Rogue One Trailer Is Out, Setting A Very Different Tone

by Andrew Reiner on Apr 07, 2016 at 02:19 AM

Update: Disney and Lucasfilm have released the Star Wars: Rogue One trailer, and it's a doozy. As dark and dire as the main entries have been, they don't come close to the gritty, desperate tone set by our first look at the upcoming film.

Check it out and let us know what you think:

Original Story:

Star Wars fans speculated that Lucasfilm would likely release the first teaser trailer for Star Wars: Rogue One on Star Wars Day (May 4). In a move no one could have seen coming, the first trailer for the film is debuting tomorrow on ABC's Good Morning America television show.

The announcement came with a brief 11-second teaser video that shows off a new version of the stormtrooper that is likely the shadow trooper that Lucasfilm recently trademarked. Star Wars: Rogue One is not a continuation of Finn and Rey's story from last year's Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and is instead a prequel story that gives us insight into how the Rebel Alliance came into possession of the Death Star plans. Rogue One is slated to open in theaters on December 16. The film is directed by Gareth Edwards.
