Pokémon Mods In Stardew Valley Is The Best Of Both Worlds

by Elise Favis on Mar 12, 2016 at 06:18 AM

Ever wanted to not just catch a Ponyta with your pokéball, but ride one? What about having a Growlithe follow you around like a pet dog? The Harvest Moon-inspired role-playing game Stardew Valley, from developer ConcernedApe, is bringing Pokémon mods to the game and you'll be able to do all of that.

Stardew Valley's online forums are working on creating what they call "Pokédew Valley" which retextures several of the games beings and animals to resemble Pokémon. The mods, for example, replace your cows to Miltanks, cats to Meowths, your sheep to Mareep, and even changes the monsters you encounter to Digglets and Zubats. You can also switch out your farmer's hat for some iconic Pokémon trainer hats, such as Ash's.

These additions are listed as works in progress, so expect more Pokémon to be added to the collection periodically. Stardew Valley released for PC last month, and on our last podcast, Ben Hanson interviewed Eric Barone (ConcernedApe) and we also uncovered that Barone wishes to bring the game to consoles as soon as possible
