Mini Mario And Friends Amiibo Challenge Coming to Nintendo eShop

by Luke Walaszek on Mar 03, 2016 at 10:21 AM

Nintendo announced a new free game coming to the eShop during today’s Nintendo Direct. Mini Mario and Friends Amiibo Challenge will allow players to tap their Amiibos on their Wii U or 3DS in order to access a series of puzzles unique to each figure.

In Mini Mario and Friends, each Amiibo will unlock a corresponding character and levels built around that character’s unique abilities. For example, Mario can bounce off of walls in order to access hard-to-reach spaces on the screen.

Mini Mario and Friends Amiibo Challenge will be available for download on April 28. Prior to that, purchasing an Amiibo at GameStop, Best Buy, or Amazon will get you a code for early access to the game starting on March 25. (Disclosure: GameStop is the parent company of Game Informer.)

In other Amiibo-related news, Nintendo announced that series 4 of the Animal Crossing Amiibo Cards will be released on June 10. Amiibo fans will also be happy to know the Summer Outfit Isabelle figure has been confirmed for a Western release as a part of the third wave of Animal Crossing figures.
