Star Wars Battlefront Art Teases Two New Characters

by Andrew Reiner on Feb 25, 2016 at 11:54 AM

DICE and Electronic Arts are teasing Star Wars Battlefront's forthcoming Outer Rim DLC with a piece of concept art that shows Nien Nunb leading the Rebel Alliance into battle against an Imperial army that appears to be joined by Greedo. While it makes sense that a bounty hunter of Greedo's stature would mingle at Jabba's Palace, it is odd to see these two characters front and center.

Rodian and Sullustan races are a part of the character creation options, but the particular outfits shown here are not. These are the outfits we saw Greedo wearing in the Cantina, and Nien Nunb sporting within the Battle of Endor. The Rodian character option is also only available for the Rebel Alliance. Could they be new playable heroes? Perhaps, but Nien Nunb getting the spotlight before Chewbacca, Yoda, Obi-Wan, or Lando seems a bit odd. There's a chance these characters could be NPCs much like the jawas or ewoks on their respective maps. Regardless of what role they play, they are front and center in an art piece EA is using to promote new content for Battlefront.

The image also hints that the Jabba's Palace map may feature a sizable exterior area, perhaps allowing for Walker Assault match types. EA's previous information of "battle within Jabba the Hutt's palace on Tatooine," made the map sound like it was of the smaller variety.

The Outer Rim DLC is the first of four packs that comes with the Season Pass, and offers a new game mode, maps, weapons, heroes, Star Cards, and a level-cap increase. The Outer Rim DLC is slated to launch in March.

Our Take
Artwork isn't always indicative of the game, but it sure seems like EA wants us to take a good look at Nien Nunb and Greedo in this piece. They are odd choices for playable characters, but at this point, we'll take anyone we can get, right?
