PES 2016 Euro 2016 DLC Free, Some Official Kits Missing

by Matthew Kato on Feb 22, 2016 at 04:32 AM

Konami has announced that it is offering Euro 2016 content for free to existing PES 2016 owners as DLC, as well as creating a standalone release on PS4 and PS3 featuring the tournament and the full PES 2016 title. This summer's tournament may feature 24 international squads competing against each other – and Konami has the official license for the event – but not all of the teams' official kits will be in the game.

Twenty-four countries play in the tournament, but the game itself only features the official kits, players, and faces for 15 of the countries (in bold below). The rest of the teams will be outfitted in generic uniforms.

Albania
Austria
Belgium
Croatia
Czech Republic
England
France
Germany
Hungary
Iceland
Italy
Northern Ireland
Poland
Portugal
Republic of Ireland
Romania
Russia
Slovakia
Spain
Sweden
Switzerland
Turkey
Ukraine
Wales

In fairness to Konami and its Euro 2016 content, rival title FIFA 16 from EA Sports has a similar problem with some of the countries above. FIFA 16 has generic kits and crests for all of the teams above except Sweden, Ireland, Poland, and Austria. Albania, Croatia, Iceland, and Ukraine are not in FIFA 16 but are included in PES 2016's Euro 2016 DLC.

The Euro 2016 content for PES 2016 will go out as free DLC for existing owners on March 24 (surfacing on the dashboard along with the other modes) and appear as a digital game and receive a physical copy on the PlayStation systems on April 21.

To coincide with the content and the tournament (which takes place in France starting on June 10th), Konami will run online competitions as well as promote special myClub offers. If you buy the standalone game you'll get exclusive myClub rewards such as a Ambassador Agent and seven Euro agents representing seven players in Euro 2016.

Our Take
It's unfortunate that not all the FAs cooperated for this endeavor, but it's possible the PES community will produce authentic-looking kits for the missing teams and use the PlayStation-only option files feature
