TwitchCon 2016 Announced, Happening Later This Year

by Connor Trinske on Feb 18, 2016 at 07:31 AM

After the success of last year's community convention, Twitch has announced its second annual TwitchCon. TwitchCon 2016 will take place at the San Diego Convention Center between September 30 and October 2.

That's a different time and place than last year, so those interested might want to keep that in mind. The upcoming convention will be "dedicated to the culture and community of Twitch's gaming and creative broadcasters, partners, developers and viewers."

Last year's TwitchCon attracted 20,000 attendees to the Moscone Center in California. TwitchCon 2016 will once again provide opportunities for attendees to network, participate in live events, learn from industry experts and of course, play games together.

Twitch will reveal more details of the convention in the near future, including the schedule and call-for-content. Judging by last year's announcements, we'll be hearing about ticket pricing and sales in the next few months.

Our Take
The breakout popularity of the first TwitchCon last year meant that it was only a matter of time before we heard about another one this year. TwitchCon 2016 will still be open to everyone that can afford to go, so there might even be a larger number of attendees than TwitchCon 2015. With a decent amount of games that would be good for streaming still coming in 2016, it's probably best that the convention is happening in fall.
