The lights are on
Street Fighter V is out today, giving players a slew of new characters to master as they battle their fellow fighting-game fans. It can be an intimidating genre to get into, which is why you might want to take a look at a fantastic (and free!) e-book that breaks down the fundamentals.
Patrick Miller's book, From Masher to Master: The Educated Video Game Enthusiast's Fighting Game Primer was released a few years ago – before Street Fighter V was available – but his excellent advice and guidance is as relevant as ever. It's an exhaustively detailed (and generously illustrated) guide on everything from positioning, mind games, and advanced combos. Tim Turi swears by it and, as someone who has faced off against him in several Street Fighter IV battles, he is an annoying opponent. He credits at least some of that to Miller's book.
Considering how Street Fighter V's online is currently not having the greatest time, you'll probably have some down time between matches, at least for a bit. You may as well make the most of it, and check out the book.
