Hardcore Henry Is A First-Person Film With Explosions, Guns, And Kung Fu
When I went to see Deadpool last night, among the expected trailers for X-Men Apocalypse and Suicide Squad was something off the beaten path. Hardcore Henry is a film shot entirely in first-person, in which the audience is the main character.
The movie takes cues from countless first-person shooters. You’re a silent protagonist. Your wife (Haley Bennett) has been kidnapped. You have a foul-mouthed friend (Sharlto Copley) to fill in the exposition. And there’s a stereotypically creepy villain Danila Kozlovsky) that wants to gut you for your bionic components.
Note that the trailer below is most certainly full of mature content.
That’s right, you’re a bionic super soldier. Your wife resurrected you from the dead and put you back together with state of the art technology. Cliché? Sure. But it might just explain how Henry doesn’t get turned into a puddle of goo throughout the film.
Hardcore Henry will be out on April 8, 2016. And if you do go see Deadpool (this would be a good choice, by the way), you might get to see the trailer on the big screen. For more, check out the first trailer from September 2015.
